French Montana Says Labels Are Now Taking Out Life Insurance Policies For Rappers: “You Preying On Making Millions On His Death”

French Montana is saying that labels nowadays are profiting off of rap beefs and rappers dying in cold blood.

During an interview with AkademiksFrench talked about the ways in which labels view street beefs and drama differently than they did in the past.

He told Akademiks when he was on the rise in the late 2000s, labels and industry friends would distance themselves from the drama.

“It was blocking a lot of money, people didn’t wanna touch you. Your rap friends, somebody gets shot, your rap friends stop picking up, labels stop picking up. It gets crazy.”

He quickly followed up with the claim that labels do anything but distance themselves now.

“But now it’s even crazier now because, they getting life insurance on artists. At least back then we ain’t have that.”

Akademiks then asked if a label is signing an artist in good faith if they are taking life insurance policies, or are they being realistic; to which French said:

“Nah, you preying on his death. You preying on making millions on his death.”

French added that labels are being both realistic and exploiting the deaths of artists by taking out life insurance policies.

“You supposed to have life insurance anyway, but when the label does it if you don’t have one – that’s crazy.”
