Lil Wayne Announces Spring 2023 ‘Welcome To Tha Carter’ Tour
Lil Wayne fans will have an opportunity to see him perform on a stage soon!
On Tuesday (Jan. 31) rapper Lil Wayne announced he’ll be collaborating with his label Young Money, Rolling Loud, and Live Nation for a 28-city tour. The lyricist, known for his thought through metaphors, released the dates to the Spring 2023 tour called “Welcome To Tha Carter.” The tour will begin on April 4 at The Fillmore in Minneapolis and will proceed through multiple cities including; Detroit, Toronto, Houston, and New York before it ends in Los Angeles at The Wiltern on May 13. According to Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter Jr., tickets will go on sale for fans this Friday (Feb. 3).
Lil Wayne has a lot to celebrate as of late. In addition to his tour, the 40-year-old will be granted the Global Impact Award to commemorate his legendary contributions to the music industry at this year’s Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective pre-Grammy event.
Hopefully, some of Lil Wayne’s good luck will rub off on his ongoing legal issues. As previously reported, an Appeals Court recently rejected Lil Wayne’s accusations against his former manager and attorney, Ronald Sweeney, in a multi-million dollar legal battle that began in 2019. His claims were denied in the lawsuit for “causes of action for fraudulent inducement, legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty, and unjust enrichment.” In addition, the court said he had no merit to his accusations.
Lil Wayne began his music career at the age of 12 when rapper and mentor Birdman signed him to Cash Money Records, making him the youngest artist on the label. To date, he’s released 13 studio albums, one collaborative album, three compilation albums, and 29 mixtapes.
Wayne has sold over 120 million records worldwide, including more than 20 million albums and 70 million digital tracks in the country. He’s also won five Grammy Awards, 11 BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, and eight NAACP Image Awards. In 2012, the father of four became the first male artist to surpass the late Elvis Presley with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100.
Outside of the tour, Tunechi is working hard on his new album “Tha Carter 6,” which he previously revealed during his Young Money reunion performance with Drake and Nicki Minaj.
